Mercury Vapor Analyzer Detector Applications
Avoid problems related to mercury contamination! The Mercury Tracker 3000 IP portable mercury detection system is a lightweight, compact and rugged instrument for measuring the mercury concentration in air and other gases.
Applications include:
- Health and Safety
- Hazmat mercury response
- Occupational Hygiene
- Work Place Monitoring
- Mercury Spill Screening
- Mercury Surveys
- Investigation of Contaminated Sites
- Environmental Monitoring
- Hazardous Waste Inspection
Mercury Vapor Analyzer Measuring Principle
The mercury concentration is measured in an
optical cell entirely made of a high purity grade fused silica. A
maintenance-free membrane pump continuously feeds the sample gas
into the measuring cell where the attenuation of a UV beam is
measured. Analytical wavelength used is 253.7 nm. This measuring
method is called: Cold Vapor Atomic Absorption Spectrometry; (CVAAS)
, which is extremely sensitive for mercury determination and has
been widely used for many years.
Analytical Performance of Mercury Vapor Analyzer
The Tracker 3000 IP portable mercury vapor monitor uses a high frequency driven electrodeless low pressure mercury lamp as UV source. This lamp emits lines of an extremely narrow bandwidth which are congruent with the absorption lines of the Hg atoms. Cross-sensitivities are thus minimized.
Unlike the gold film based system, mercury vapor measurements are not interfered with by hydrogen sulfide (H2S) or water vapor. The extremely high stability of the UV source is a result of the reference beam feedback control method. Total background noise is less than 0.1 µg/m³. The Tracker 3000IP mercury sniffer is calibrated before delivery and keeps the calibration for a long period of time. For quality control a test screen is included allowing the user to check calibration.

Easy to operate mercury vapor detector
The user controls the Mercury Tracker 3000 IP by
menu-guided inputs on a waterproof membrane keypad. After switch-on
the light source is stabilized (approx. 1 - 5 minutes). Measurement
starts
automatically, continuously indicating the mercury concentration of
the air as a numerical value and a graphic bar. The baseline is
automatically adjusted by the auto zero function.

Display and Export of Mercury Measurement Data
The readings are displayed in real time on a large 5.3" LCD screen, both numerically and graphically. Measurement data is exported as a 4-20 mA analog signal and via a serial RS232 interface.
The Mercury Tracker 3000 IP features a built in data logger. Up to 15,000 readings can be stored in the non-volatile memory. The logging interval can be set from 1 to 999 seconds revealing a total recording capacity of 4 hours, up to 173 days. A Client Software for data transfer to a PC is included, data is automatically formatted in Excel. The Tracker 3000IP also provides alarms and messages for operational status.

Self-Diagnosis of Mercury Locating System
Important components of the Mercury Tracker 3000 IP are permanently monitored. In case of malfunctions the user is warned on the display (blinking messages: clean cell, lamp, low battery alarm) and via output signals.
